Support Staff
School Secretary
Mrs Susan Klahn
Mrs Susan Klahn
My association with Park Hill goes back to 1974 when my son, at the age of three, joined the Nursery. All of my four children attended Park Hill, as did three nephews and a niece. My son's children were here till they moved to the USA and now my daughter's two children are at Park Hill. So, as you can see, I have very close ties with the school and many happy memories as a parent. We all made many lasting friendships and are still in close touch with a number of ex-Park Hill families.

I joined the staff as School Secretary when Mrs Christie took over in 1989 and my duties, whilst varied and multiple, primarily involve admissions and general admin. I enjoy the close contact with the parents and children and no two days are ever the same. It is a pleasure to work in such a happy environment and pleasant surroundings with such congenial colleagues.

In January 2001, I joined the staff at Park Hill as school secretary/administrator on a part time basis. My duties primarily involve the provision of secretarial and administrative support to Mrs Christie, Mrs Klahn and the teaching staff; making their lives, I hope, a little less hectic! I very much enjoy the contact I have with the children, parents and teachers and feel very fortunate to work in such a lovely environment.

Lunch Ladies

The Ladies who cook! (Interviewed by Form II)

Linda (far right) has been cooking our lunches at Park Hill for 32 years and Jayne (far left) as helped her for six and a half years; they both really enjoy their jobs.
They both like working at the school and they like seeing the children enjoying the food. Jayne likes mixing with the children at lunch time.

The meals they most enjoy cooking are shepherds pie and macaroni cheese. Their favourite puddings are lemon sponge, custard and jam tarts.

Lin (in the middle) used to prepare our lovely teas at the After School Club however she has just retired and we miss her very much.

Garden Management
Mr Paul Green
Mr Paul Green
I started playing Rock music from the age of thirteen and soon started writing my own material. Until 1982 I continued life as a professional musician but along the way became passionate about plants and gardens. Mrs Forward, the founder of Park Hill School, knew me as a gardening writer and in 1984 asked me to take over the garden management.

When Mrs Forward retired, a new owner took over, I stayed on at Park Hill for nearly a year before leaving to continue my music and garden writing.

In 1988, I received a call from Mrs Christie, the new Principal of Park Hill, asking me if I would return to my old job at the School. I was delighted to accept and I have enjoyed my frequent visits to this day.
