Visiting Music Teachers |

Mr Mick Anker |
I have been a professional recording artist / performer since 1983, with plenty of live and recording experience at many levels. Working in the field of pop music, I have performed on UK and international TV shows, including quite a few 'Top of the Pops' (something my students can relate to).
I teach guitar and bass guitar privately.
I have taught guitar at Park Hill School since 2005 and have found this to be a very rewarding environment for myself and my pupils. We have regular opportunities to perform in school services, assemblies, and concerts, and work closely with the school music department.

Mrs Shiranti Wijesekera |
I have been working at Park Hill since 1993 as a piano teacher. I have taught the piano for over 40 years, including 7 years at a nursery/primary school in Colombo, Sri Lanka. I have also previously worked as an accompanist for singing and ballet classes, and have performed on "Radio Ceylon".
My aim is to help my pupils to realise their musical potential. Learning the piano is challenging but fun, and children gain confidence both through developing this new skill and sharing it with others. I hope to lay the musical foundations upon which may build in the future.
LRSM, LTCL, Diploma in Speech & Drama.

Miss Shih Yun Shao |
I grew up in Taipei City, Taiwan where I attended a specialist music class and took up violin lessons from an early age. When I was 14, i won a scholarship to come to the UK and to attend the prestigious Purcell School in North London, a specialist school for young musicians. For the last 4 years I have been a student at the Royal College of Music, studying under violin Professor Dona Lee Croft. Since I have first come to the UK, I have performed in numerous national and international concerts in countries like Poland, Sri Lanka and China and venues like South Bank Centre and Cadogan Hall.
Having gone through such rigorous musical education, I have experienced a lot of different teaching styles and methods. This has made it very clear to me, that it is important to find the right approach to teaching by tailoring each lesson specifically to the needs of the children. My general approach is to introduce one step at a time and to slowly build up a solid foundation which will put the children in a good position to make further progress on the violin. Then hopefully the violin will be more than just an instrument, but a friend that allows the children to express themselves.
